Unless you have been living under a rock you are aware that the Panthers sent wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin to Buffalo this week in exchange for a late 3rd and 7th round pick in the 2018 draft.
It is said that the trade occurred less than hour before the Wednesday deadline. Benjamin joins former Panthers players Mike Tolbert and Joe Webb among others as well as former defensive coordinator Sean McDermott.
Benjamin was inactive in the Bills’ Thursday night loss to the Jets.
The Panthers brought back wide receiver Brenton Bersin to fill the vacancy left by the Benjamin trade.
Thomas Davis was fined $48,620 for his hit on Tampa Bay wide receiver Adam Humphries last week. Davis took to Instagram to show his dissatisfaction with the fine stating that “Not a single part of this play was dirty! I love playing this game but if this was illegal then it’s time for me to retire!”
Davis will be appealing the ruling.
One week after bringing in former Panther who was traded to the Bills then back to the Panthers Kaelin Clay – who handled punt returns against Tampa last week, Ron Rivera states that running back Christian McCaffrey will be sharing punt return duties with Clay. Rivera had originally commented that Clay would take over punt return duties due to McCaffrey’s already full plate.
Center Ryan Kalil has been ruled out for Sunday with soreness continuing in his neck. Guard Trai Turner is listed as questionable but is expected to play. Running back Fozzy Whittaker is also questionable.
Also, Greg Olsen was eligible to return to practice this week after suffering a broken foot against the Bills. He expects to return to playing after the BYE week when the Panthers visit the Jets.
